As at June 2015, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) registered a new political party, Democratic Peoples Congress, bringing the number of registered parties in Nigeria to 29.
Hence, currently, there are 29 registered political parties in Nigeria.
However the major political parties are Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and All Progressive Congress, (APC). With APC as the ruling political party and PDP as the opposition political party.
