There a various scholarships that have been put in place to
help Nigerian students go through school easily if they can show
brilliance and dedication and if they can put their foot down and
determine to reap the benefits of these scholarships.
Most of these scholarships are for students who just recently got
admitted or who are in their second year in a university or polytechnic,
so if you recently got admitted into any university and you’re looking
for available scholarships that could help you be more comfortable in

One thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of students miss out on these
scholarships not because they can’t pass the scholarship but because
they simply didn’t get any useful information about them on time. To
this end we have compiled a list of some of the top paying scholarships,

MTN Foundation scholarship
This scholarship is open to full time 200 level students of any
legitimate university, polytechnic or college of education in the
country, MTN foundation scholarship also require student to be in a
grade of at least second class upper i.e 2:1, for a direct entry
students the minimum grade point average must be of GPA 3.0 which is
upper credit and must have secured admission into a 200 level in an
approved university. Application for this scholarship is always on
around August and September.
Agbami scholarship
This is another scholarship that is very beneficial to any student
who can get it, they pay a yearly fee within a range of #100,000 to
#150,000. This scholarship is a brainchild of Star Deep Petroleum a
chevron owned company that operates on the Agbami field. To be eligible
apply, students must be either in their first year or second year at a
recognized university in any state in Nigeria. For more info about the

Chevron Nigeria Limited JV Scholarship Awards
This is another scholarship we decided to bring to your notice
because it is also a great opportunity for students to live like kings
and queens while on campus if they can put in their best and pass the
exam convincingly, the Chevron scholarship is offered by Chevron in
collaboration with NNPC. Only students in 200level are allowed to apply.
This scholarship gives room for application by non-science students.
Application is done through the website scholastic.ng.
Exxon/Mobil Scholarship
From another oil company comes another scholarship scheme that
aimed at helping hardworking Nigeria students study comfortably without
all the usual financial restraints. If you are a 200level student in any
Nigerian university and you have up to 5 distinctions in you O’level
result, you should consider applying for this scholarship because you’re
eligible.
Federal Government scholarship
This is the only scholarship scheme provided by the Federal
government of Nigeria for high performing undergraduate students who are
either in their second year, third year or fourth year in a Nigerian
university and have at least a 4.0 GPA out of a 5.0 scale or a 3.0 GPA
out of a 4.0 scale. The scholarship is also extended to students in
Nigerian polytechnics who are in HND and had a minimum of 3.5 CGPA i.e.
upper credit in their ND level. For graduates who are looking to further
studies, you can also apply if you were able to get at least a second
class upper in your first degree.
Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) Scholarship
This is another scholarship that pays its awardees handsomely. To
qualify for application of this scholarship, students must be a full
time undergraduate in a Nigerian university or polytechnic and in their
first year, if you hail from Rivers, Imo, Delta or Bayelsa state you
should apply for the host community merit award, but if you are not and
you are studying Geology, Engineering and other science courses, you can
apply for the National merit award.
National Liquefied and Natural Gas (NLNG) scholarship
This is another scholarship you should consider applying for if you
are a Nigerian student studying full time in a Nigerian university and
in your second year, this scholarship has been on for over a decade and
pays its awardees the sum of #150,000 yearly.
Conclusion
For each of the scholarships we mentioned, the application always
begins from the middle of the year, you should do your research to
ensure you get the golden ticket and be assured of yearly income even
while in school. I know of students who make hundreds of thousands from
