Five Ways to Spend the Holidays Without Breaking the Bank

‘Tis the season to be jolly or so they say….With the way the year is looking so many people are unexcited about the festive season mostly because of the expenses that comes with it but it doesn’t always have to be that way. You don’t have to buy expensive things or take luxurious trips to enjoy the holidays. You can have the best of times without breaking a sweat and this is how…
So, here are five Ways to Spend the Holidays Without Breaking the Bank

Stay Home

Its that simple! A lot of the time we make big, elaborate plans for the holidays that end up frustrating us financially and causing a lot of stress. Its very easy to forget that as much as we want to go out and travel, Christmas time is one of the few times during the year that the entire family (Mother, Father and Children) are less busy and can finally spend time together so make simple family plans. Cook a nice meal, watch a movie with the whole family, organize games for your children, etc. You don’t have to get on a plane and travel somewhere to know you a celebrating Christmas, spending time with the people you love sometimes is all you need.

Visit family and friends

Round the year everyone’s busy with work, school and life in general. You might have a friend who had a baby and you promised to visit but never had the time to or that colleague who you promised to visit after they moved into a new house. Now you have the time just do!!  Take a little gift, it doesn’t have to be over the top. Chances are they are prepared for guests and have food so that’s a free meal, BONUS! If you have children use this opportunity to let them meet their cousins, aunties, uncles and build strong family ties.

Budget! Budget! Budget!

People tend to over spend during the holidays because there’s usually so much to buy with so many tempting deals and discounts. Having a budget would keep you in line and ensure you have more than enough for the holidays and most especially after.

Organize a get together

A get together should not be mistaken for a party. It’s just a time for friends to spend time together, enjoying each other’s company and as such is easier and much cheaper to organize. With snacks, drinks, a movie and good company a get together is a low cost way to spend the holidays.

Attend free events

There are so many events around Christmas where you do not have to pay any gate fees and can attend free of charge such as some stand-up comedy shows etc. Find one, attend and enjoy yourself for little to no cost.
A lot of times we over do things during this season and we forget the things that count. You don’t need to have the most money to have the most fun and make lasting memories this Christmas. All you have to do is spend wisely and live smartly, never forgetting this is the season of love and a time to share with family.
