BVN is an acronym of Bank Verification Number and its an initiatives of the Central Bank of Nigeria which is one of the measures put in place to reduce illegal banking transactions in Nigeria. It is a modern security measure in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria Decree to reduce fraud in the Nigerian banking system.
BVN registration can be done in all banks in Nigeria but for Nigerians in diaspora, there only certain places that you can get the registration done

Documents needed:

• BVN Enrolment form which can be downloaded from here
• Your Account Name and Account Number
• One recent passport photograph
• Valid means of identification ( this could be International Passport, Driver’s License card or National ID Card.)
• Registration fee (amount depends on location)
