There are 3 types of visas available for people traveling to the Republic of Kenya temporarily, to wit:

SINGLE ENTRY VISA

Issued for single entry to persons whose nationalities require a visa to enter Kenya either for business, tourism or medical reasons. This costs USD $51.

TRANSIT VISA

Issued to persons connecting through Kenya to other destinations for a period not exceeding 72 hours. Those connecting flights directly without leaving the airport do not need to apply for Transit visas. Costs USD $21.

COURTESY VISA

Issued to Diplomatic, Official and Service passport holders coming into the country on official duties, or transiting through Kenya to a third country for official business or duties. It is also issued to government officials and dignitaries on official duties but holding ordinary passports. It is issued free of charge.

People seeking to travel will be needing a Single Entry Visa. And the requirements for that are as follows:

REQUIREMENTS FOR KENYA’S SINGLE ENTRY VISA

• Passport photograph on white background.
• International passport with at least 6 months’ validity.
• Full Itinerary of Travel (Hotel, Flight and Attractions to be visited).
• Letter of release from your employer/school (if applicable).
• Hotel booking and flight reservation.

STEPS TO APPLY FOR A KENYAN VISA

Step 1: Go to http://evisa.go.ke. This is the Kenyan Online Application for the Visa.

Step 2: Click on EVisa. There are other options such as EVisa, EBusiness, ECitizen. But the one that applies to you as a Nigerian traveling to Kenya for a vacation is the EVisa option.

Step 3: Create a visitor account and fill all your information accurately.

Step 4: Confirm your email and continue application. Select Department of immigration service and submit.

Step 5: Fill the application form appropriately.

Step 6: Pay your visa fees online by using your credit/debit card.

Step 7: An approval mail will be sent to your mail, make sure you download and print it as well. I recommend putting a star on the email.

Step 8: Ensure you have both hard and soft copy of eVisa so that you can present it to immigration officers at your chosen port of entry to Kenya.

KENYAN VISA PROCESSING TIME

The Single Entry Visa takes only two working days. Note also that you must print a copy to carry with your passport and bring it along when you travel to Kenya.

When you arrive in Kenya, you must have your EVisa printout along with your passport.
